A standard Bluetooth USB dongle would also work if some of the options I outlined above sound more appealing. If you don't currently have wireless capability at all, the Xbox adapter is a good bet. You can work around this with programs that run in the background that work as an XInput wrapper, but again you might personally consider that a hassle. Playstation controllers and the Switch Pro controller will register as Direct Input by default IIRC. If you do launch things without Steam, things drop off fast in terms of ease of use. I think you can even use Steam to launch non-Steam games with Stream Input, but how much of a hassle that is depends on you. Whatever's most comfortable to you/has the features you want (they support gyro controls pretty well!) is your best bet. If you're a Steam-only kinda person and have Bluetooth, they support pretty much everything under the sun and they support it seamlessly.
